2001 Pezzi King Maple Vineyard

January 17, 2006

I’ve been remiss in keeping up with my wine/beer/sake tasting notes for too long. After tasting some crazy delicious wines at Joe’s, and sakes at Matthew’s, it seems apropos to begin a journal now.

2001 Pezzi King Dry Creek Valley zinfandel, Maple Vineyard, 15.5%, $28.
Tannic with a lingering astringency. Some pepper and dark berry. With a little air, some notes of over ripeness: prunes, raisin. Alcohol levels not hidden, unlike a Turley zin, its clearly sweet and potent. Would buy again? No, maybe at half the price- but there are much better values out there.
